Our History
Founders - Dennis

The Solid Rock Deliverance Center Incorporated was founded under the leadership of the late Evangelist John Lofton Dennis and his wife, Missionary Annie Lee Morris Dennis on October 12, 1969. Elder Dennis sought the Lord for a name for this house of worship. The Lord gave him “Solid Rock Deliverance Center”, a name that would neither conflict nor depart from the scripture. Solid Rock Deliverance Center has a general synod that dates from October 15, 1971, which builds churches, schools, recreational centers, etc. , but the congregation have the right to govern themselves accordingly.
Thomas

As the years rolled by the Lord continued to bless, and as we all know, the sun does not always shine in our lives. Sometimes rain must fall, for on January 21, 1979, God called our beloved Pastor home. The church was without a pastor for several months. The Lord knew the needs and desires of his people and sent a man of God named Elder Jake Thomas, preaching “Help is on the Way”. Elder Thomas became pastor of Solid Rock Deliverance Center in October of 1979, and along side him his wife Evangelist Thomas. The Lord sent Elder Thomas at a time when most needed and allowed him to pastor us for fifteen years. Once his job was finished, the Lord called him home on November 15, 1994.
Laster

After the calling home of Elder Thomas, our next pastor would be another great man of God, and a member of our very own congregation, Minister Robert Earl Laster. And along side him was his wife Minister Nettie Laster. Minister Robert Earl Laster soon became Elder Robert Earl Laster. Elder Robert Laster became pastor of Solid Rock Deliverance Center in December of 1994, and was officially installed as pastor by Bishop Roy White on February 5, 1995. After serving for over eleven years, our beloved Pastor Robert Laster was stricken with a massive stroke in January, 2006, which rendered him incapable of fulfilling the duties of pastoring a congregation.
Jackson

God laid it upon the heart of Elder William Jackson, Jr. to apply to the Church family to be their Pastor. In an overwhelming majority, the church family accepted Elder William Jackson, Jr. as the new Pastor of Solid Rock Deliverance Center, and along side him, his wife, Sister Angela Jackson. Elder William Jackson Jr. has been a member of own very own congregation since the conception of Solid Rock in 1969.
Honorable Mention

Minister Berta Woods served as our Assistant Pastor for many years. She went home to glory several years ago, and we miss her dearly.
Solid Rock was founded on the Word of God and we know that as long as we put God first, do His will and do not deviate from His Word, we will prosper. The Lord is still adding dedicated members to Solid Rock. Our goal is to reach the lost, minister to those in need, and help someone else to grow closer to the kingdom of God. We thank God for forty five years (1969-2014), and all the years to come.
